Frequently Asked Questions - Teacher Facilitators
When are camps offered and how long are they?
Camps are offered during the months of June and July, run Monday - Thursday, and are scheduled from 8AM - 3PM.
How does pay work for facilitators?
If your camp is approved and has at least 10 students registered, you will be paid daily rate of pay for the four days. Payment will be processed in August once all camps are concluded.
What sort of camps are you looking for?
Imagine creating the kind of experiences kids can't wait to get to. There should be an emphasis on fun and learning. Remember, there are no grades, no state exams, etc.. Ignite Camps are designed to connect students to the joy of learning and teachers to the joys of teaching! What are you passionate about? What will the kids be passionate about?
What are some examples of camps that have been offered in the past?
Our teachers have offered a variety of experiences including: Art Camps, Drone Camps, Minecraft/Game Design Camps, Esports Camps, Coding Camps, and much more!
How will I know who's enrolled in my camp and communicate with them?
When either the enrollment period ends or a camp has reached capacity, we will share the sign up information with our facilitators who can reach out to parents with more details leading up to the camp.
Can I get supplies for my camp?
Yes! We can reimburse up to $200 of supplies and materials for each camp. Save all receipts and submit the appropriate paperwork to Mrs. Theresa Atkins at the District Office.
Who funds these experiences for students?
The SCS Education Foundation has generously funded these camps for the past few years and we greatly appreciate the opportunity it gives our students and teachers.
Can I co-teach a camp? Can two or more teachers work together on a camp?
Our funding is limited. This is only an option for camps that reach a capacity of 20 or more and with approval prior to the close of the call for proposals.
Will you help me develop my idea for an Ignite Camp?
We would love to! We've been doing this kind of work for years now and have experience in writing camp descriptions, conference proposals, etc. We'll help you take your rough idea and polish it into a fantastic camp proposal!
Will you help me market my Ignite Camp?
Absolutely! The best way to fill your camp is to recruit students with whom you've already built a relationship. However, we'll be promoting your camp through our website and through district social media, too!
Can I run the camp at my school in my classroom?
Yes! In fact, that's what we typically encourage. Of course, you must coordinate this with your principal, agreeing on camp dates (there should be an administrator in the building during your camp), room, and other details.
What is the minimum number of students needed for my camp to happen?
To be as cost-effective as possible, we require that each camp have at least ten students signed up prior to the end of the registration period. Once we reach that number, we'll let you know.
